My life gives life. My life within you is to do the same. Who is downtrodden around you? It is to them that you can give life. I have given abundantly to you, that you would be an abundance to them. The generous heart goes far beyond the coin or property, it gives of its time and encouragement. The edification, the lifting, is of the God who dwells within you. Lift as you have been lifted. Pray for those who suffer. Bring peace to the anxious. Give spiritual food to those who are in need; their hunger shows in their eyes and the countenance of their face. This is the work of the redeemed. You are given to, that you might also give. Reach with the hand of your Lord. Give what you can give, even just of the ear, or touch, or pleasant company. The redeemed are called to love, to other of the redeemed, then to the world.
Proverbs 11:25 (ESV) – Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.
Bottom Line: With whom do you work that you know is suffering? Hard times hit everyone at some point. We have been given a charge in the pages of scripture, and by the Holy Spirit within us, to be generous to the people around us. This does not necessarily mean financially, although sometimes financial generousity is appropriate and needed. We must also be generous with our time. Taking time to encourage, comfort, and bless others with our abundant life is the reason for our redeemed, abundant life.
