Listening to the Holy Spirit:
Without regard for discipline, all men fail. My Word gives council for those that seek the greater life, for this age and the next. Each precept raises. What has been spoken by the breath of God lifts. Great sadness is for those that refuse wisdom. Great honor and stature to those who heed My Word and follow My ways. The pride of men is a downward slope. He that humbles himself to instruction climbs; and to he that climbs, more is given. The eyes of man are not steady. To and fro they sway, giving way to confused winds. My Word gives steady direction, and those that hold My wisdom higher than their own, it is these that will be lifted. By My hand it shall be so.
Ps 32:8 (ESV) – I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
Ps 119:105 (ESV) – Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.
Matt 7:7-11 (ESV) – “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
James 1:5 (ESV) – If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
2Tim 3:16 (ESV) – All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
Taking It to Work:
Education is a great blessing. Societies and countries that have limited ability to educate, well, their people suffer. Experience is also a great educator. Many of us that have decades of road behind us, are so much better off that when we first started out. But there is even a greater elevator of our lives than our schools or our years of experience, and that is the wisdom found in the Bible. Of all the self-help books ever written, none can compare to the results that can be gained by applying the wisdom God has placed in His Word.
Most everyone reading or listening to this devotional is trying to better their life. To elevate it to the next level. We get up early, stay up late, or both, to get the work of the day done. We hope for raises, promotions or increasing commissions to elevate our standard of living. That’s the world we all operate in, but as Christians, we have something better to help us achieve true height in life, and that’s wisdom directly from the mouth of God. The author of life itself.
It should never be discounted by men and women of faith. The precepts from the Bible are numerous, applicable, and have been proven true for millennia. Today’s scriptures are just a few. Find time to dig in daily into God’s wisdom for your life. It is, and always will be, the greatest elevator of lives that the world, or your career, will ever know. Let His Word work in your life, today.
