The grain that falls is safe. Though it falls, in its creation, so it is meant. Also it is cast upon the torrent, and rides to a place unknown. Some to the sea, where it is cast on a distant shore. Wet, then dry, wet again, carried by vermin and beast, in the outward coat and the inward path, then cast again to be buried among the rotted. All this, then to bloom. Its path not known to itself, only to He who sends, but now in place for fruitfulness planned long ago. Created for the journey, and for the fruit that marks its season. Where along its way was it in danger? Where among the harsh path was it not cared for in its shell? So too it is with you. For your journey is not one of ease, but one of My direction given in My protection. Not of protection from trouble, but of the destruction of he who travels the troubled way. Much in your path though difficult, is of great value beyond its difficulty. For My arm moves the torrent, and the torrent moves My people, and each find My chosen way. I Am a strong tower, one of refuge, and along each path I move. The rain and wind moves Me not, but I move with my chosen – those who have chosen Me. Going before, to the side, to rear guard, I Am. Under I lift, and from the dangers above, I Am there. For those who seek My way and the righteousness of He who has created, the safety in the storm does not cease, and the Lord of all will not slumber. In the end for the grain, it is the great drought, then the great storm, that gives the seed finally its sprout, and from the calamity amidst safety, comes forth fruit – thirty, sixty and a hundred-fold. Fear not the way of the torrent; you travel not alone.

Proverbs 18:10 (ESV) – The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.

Peter 4:19 (ESV) – Therefore, let those who suffer according to God’s will, entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.

Bottom Line: God’s ways are not, and never have been, the easiest or most comfortable ways to go. It only takes a single pass through the Bible to realize that even the greatest heroes of our faith were rarely in easy, pleasurable circumstances for very long. Although they are known for their great deeds along the way, most suffered and went through long periods where the circumstances around them were hostile, dangerous and often deadly. Where are you today? Our world is filled with the call of comfort and luxury, promises of ease and peace, and endless admonitions to “Stay safe”. You may even feel, quite erroneously, that if you are going through hard times, that God is not with you, or He is not there at all. Nothing can be farther from the truth. If your story is one of a rough path, if work is difficult and home life is tough, take heart. In His wisdom, according to His Word, He is taking you down a path that will ultimately lead to your fruitfulness. You were made for this. Have faith and follow. Continue to do good. You are safe with Him!
