He who has no loss, has little thankfulness. He who receives what he does not need, again bears thanklessness. Many walk in plenty, but suffer for want, surrounded by abundance, but lost in the ungrateful heart. My blessing flows to the evil and the just, but it is the child of God who is satisfied and knows the hand of provision. To Me they rise in thankfulness, more so the greater in need. Great blessing for the lost is much more a curse. Riches among the haughty raise the want and grow the greed, but he who walks My way measures each hand of grace and dawns within the generous heart of his Father. Curse not the need, as it springs forth life to thankfulness, and do not covet abundance for it steals what is sacred to the God who sees. Raise your eyes to He who provides, and in the raising, the heart bows down – full and satisfied.

Psalm 107:8-9 (ESV) – Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.

Bottom Line: Even though we live far more comfortably than the many generations before us, our thankfulness can be far less. As followers of Jesus, we know our provider. Not only do we have Someone who we can give our thanks to, as long as our heart is truly thankful for what we already have, greed and dissatisfaction will be far from our hearts. After you look around to see your blessings, raise your eyes and let thanksgiving flow.
