It does not have to be. The weight of sin adds greatly to trials already difficult. The toil of man is of his equipping. I do not ask of one to carry two, or he who can go ten to traverse twelve. The strength given to a man is sufficient for his journey. Even in want of strength, by My hand he prevails, but he who adds to his burden, much greater his struggle. His own arm he cannot lift, and his eyes are clouded, for his mind is dull with sin. His load he cannot carry, for his transgression digs like an anchor, like the wild root of thistle, entangling what is above with darkness hidden below. I have come that you might be free of sin, that the yoke be made easy and your joy complete. Do not add trouble onto yourself, for the Father must teach the wayward son, and the daughter of rebellion sinks low in her chair. Cast away the dreadful thoughts before they amass their weight. Turn in the strength of My Word, that your spirit would be lifted, and to My cross, that your soul be renewed.

Psalm 38:3-4 (ESV) – There is no soundness in my flesh because of your indignation; there is no health in my bones because of my sin. For my iniquities have gone over my head; like a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me.

Bottom Line: Life in general can be difficult. Financial ups and downs, family challenges, work issues, these are all part of the journey, and in many cases, we don’t have a lot of control over them. Normal living is hard for everyone at times, unfortunately, we can add to our load considerably by living in such a way that our sin, sometimes secret or self-justified, completely weigh us down. Often, especially for the unrepentant follower, it can get so bad that sin affects the way we live, interact, and even our physical health.  It adds horrible weight to a life that is already tough. Shed the sin, go to Him with a humble heart, receive again His forgiveness, and before you know it – you will feel light on your toes once again.
