Who assigns value? Is it of the clay to assign its own, or of the potter? And if the potter chooses to create a vessel of great worth, is it always to be adorned as such? Many a shelf contain vessels of beauty – gold and dusty for lack [of] daily purpose. Is the vessel then not of value? Or the common clay jar, although used daily, considered valueless for lack of jewels? Neither can be valued, nor compared, by purpose or beauty, by other than its Creator. One for beauty, one for use, one perfect to the eye, one imperfect, but no less desired by He who creates. Look your soul upon Me. Your value is in My eye only. See not the void, the crack, or the stall of use. You have been created; is that not enough? By My hands for My great pleasure you are. A grateful heart is My reward, and life itself is your own. Take joy in your breath and follow My way. You have been made and you will not cease to be, perfect in My desire.

Psalm 139:13-16 (ESV) – “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”

Psalm 100 (ESV) – “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”

Bottom Line: We all have some degree of insecurity in who we are. Across the globe, thousands make the headlines for great accomplishments and successes. It may motivate us to become more, or it may demotivate us. We are of great worth to our Maker. Why, we may not know, but the fact that He has given us life, and laid down His own life for us so that we may have life eternal; that should say something. You and I did not have to be, yet here we are. We may not feel spectacular about certain aspects of ourselves, but thanks be to our Heavenly Father, that we don’t assign our own value. To Him we are priceless and pleasing, maybe not adorned as we would like, but priceless just the same!
