There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end, leads to destruction. The counsel of My Spirit speaks to those nearing this destruction. It is not without notice this call. Heeded not, the pain of loss is felt again. The obedient instead, give prayers of thanksgiving, for deliverance is theirs. Do not turn from the warnings of My Spirit. Know it from your own heart. Ponder your way in My presence. Seek wisdom in those who abide. Quell the desires, that you would hear the words of the wise. Have no motive but obedience. Have no defense to My leading. Seek the way of the Lord above the heart, and the way of the wise above your pride. He who refuses to hear, walks with speed to loss, but he who takes counsel, spares himself misery. Do not be fooled by the deaf heart.

Proverbs 19:21 (NIV) – Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

Proverbs 11:14 (NIV) – For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers.

Bottom Line: Pride is very tricky. It gives us a deep-down assurance that we are right, even when we are wrong, and it can make us deaf to anyone trying to warn us of our error. It can also cause us to ignore the Holy Spirit speaking within. Many of us, after making a regretted mistake, can easily look back and remember the internal warning, the “check in our spirit” that we know was God’s down-played warning, but we ran confidently in our own way. Scripture tells us that our heart can be deceiving, and we need to seek His way above our own. This is very important if you are the leader of your family, or are responsible for many in your workplace. Seek His wisdom before trusting your own.
