No greater than that which comes from God. Man cannot understand his own actions. Desperate for control, but even within himself, has little. Faith needs no control. True faith brings peace even in unspeakable calamity. The suffering soul rests as his heart trusts in He who has ultimate control. I call many to act, but many more to pray in faith, and it is these whom move the highest mountains. Through those that act, great work for the Kingdom; but through those who pray – greater still, for they invoke the power of God. My ear hears the cry of My people, “Control is lost! The earth casts its holy glory! No more does it reflect God’s presence!”. Hear My voice. As it is written, there can be no weapon that stands. The plan for the saints involves no cooperation of the unrighteous. Those who know no God do not partake, nor do they grant. The mantle belongs to the Lord of Hosts. Small beings perish as the grass. Those who feed only themselves, starve themselves. Those who reject the Father have no life, and His plan involves them not. They may hold the helm, but it is God who controls the sea. Do not fret for who is captain of the vessel. Although he grasps firmly the wheel, and his will turns the rudder, he shall not turn the sea. He who cannot control his own body will not in the end choose his port. Pray not for control, even of the earth, but for the favor of He who truly commands, whom wind and sea and all creation cannot but obey.
Isaiah 54:16-17 (ESV) – “Behold, I have created the smith who blows the fire of coals and produces a weapon for its purpose. I have also created the ravager to destroy; no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”
Luke 8:24 (ESV) – And they went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And he awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased, and there was a calm.
Bottom Line: Across the globe there seems to be turmoil and unrest. Every headline seems to have a dark cloud, and fear is rampant in many who had none just one year ago. The Bible teaches that only those of true faith are truly at peace. Why? Because they are well acquainted with He who never rests, and never loses control. Remember my brother or sister Christian, that our God is all-powerful. He is always in full control, and he is never surprised. Men are constantly grabbing for control, but the truth is, they never really attain it. Yes, in centuries past, there have been leaders who led millions, and in some cases destroyed millions, but never were they “in control”. God always sets the limits. There is always a boundary to the hurricane, a maximum to the wind, and a bridle on man. We are reminded again today that neither presidents, politicians, nor Hollywood’s popular people are truly in control. In reality, it is those of true, deep faith, often found on their knees and faces, that have the most influence over the world. As you go through your workday today, set a few reminders to get alone with the true Commander, even if just for a minute or two, because it is this time of faithful, confident prayer that will move the heart and arm of our omnipotent God. And when He moves, all the world will see what real control looks like, as He works faithfully and powerfully through both kings and calamity.
