Taking It to Work:
How often have we said, “I just can’t handle this!”?
Have you ever had the crisis of faith that comes with not understanding how a loving God could let such calamity into your life, wondering why it has to be so tough sometimes?
We have all experienced these trying times in our lives; sometimes with work situations, sometimes with personal issues, and sometimes, depending on the severity or the sheer number of them, we can question if we have the strength to get through them. We also, at times, forget that God is even part of the equation – especially if our issues or challenges are in the workplace.
I would submit to you, based on today’s scriptures and the Listening to the Spirit section of the reading, that there are both situations and callings where the Lord will lead us, where we truly won’t have the strength or ability to handle it ourselves, not handle it well anyway.
It is part of the Christian walk. As a good Father, God is very interested in growing and maturing us. Contrary to the popular teaching that He is only interested in making our lives comfortable, safe and trouble-free, it is clear both in the bible, and, if we’re honest, in our own experience, that the easy path is generally not His way.
Sometimes it is to teach us, sometimes to discipline us, and sometimes it is to remind us how great our accomplishments can be when we rely on His strength to lead in that accomplishment, even with the challenges at work.
Whether you are leading others, or just leading yourself, as a son or daughter of the Most-High God, we can get through very bad circumstances, and answer very high callings in our lives, far greater than what we can accomplish on our own, if we don’t try to go it alone.
If God is bringing you through a valley right now, or calling you to a monumental task or dream, don’t let up. Go for it with all your might, but pray for His mighty right arm, and you will accomplish greater than you have ever imagined, as His Word works through you, today.
John 16:33 (ESV) – I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Joshua 6:20 (ESV) – So the people shouted, and the trumpets were blown. As soon as the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they captured the city.
Nehemiah 6:9 (ESV) – For they all wanted to frighten us, thinking, “Their hands will drop from the work, and it will not be done.” But now, O God, strengthen my hands.
Psalm 89:20-21 (ESV) – I have found David, my servant; with my holy oil I have anointed him, so that my hand shall be established with him; my arm also shall strengthen him.
Listening to the Holy Spirit (Rhema):
I call My children beyond themselves. Each is to take on more than they can handle alone. I call them to My side, that they would have strength enough. You are called to higher. I give you much, but expect more! As you follow and discern My voice, I will call you to the dark, steep and high. My call is not for he who stumbles, nor he who lacks for sloth, but for he who follows in faith, reaching for what cannot be reached alone. My arm stretches to the heavens. Nothing of vision given by Me is out of My reach. I am greater-than. Call to me for My vision, that you would not place your sites on the small stone. A mountain is My calling, and I call you to reach. In My Name reach; for My Name reach, and My arm shall extend your own.
