Taking It to Work:

Remember Clark Kent, aka Superman? Well, even when disguised as a mild-mannered reporter, he never forgot that he had a bigger job than just working at the Daily Planet.

His mission, his assignment, his calling was meant for greater impact, and his x-ray vision and super-hearing was always on high alert, so he would not miss the opportunity to fulfill his real role.

As Christians in the workforce, we should remember that we also have a higher calling, a real role to play. We are there to get our jobs done well, yes, but the bigger assignment, the higher job description, the one in which you were born and redeemed to fill, is to have a lasting impact on the world, and Monday through Friday, that’s on those with whom we work.

As the old saying goes, “They should be better for knowing us.”

The Bible says that through our daily actions and words, we can strengthen and encourage others. We can bless, edify and serve, and we have every “superpower” we need to do it well, through the supernatural gift of the in-dwelling Holy Spirit.

So, be spiritually aware today, and don’t miss the opportunities to bless those who cross your path. It is your higher calling, and will be your greater work, recorded and remembered eternally, as His Word works through you, today.

2Cor 5:20a (ESV) – We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us…
Phil 4:19 (ESV) – And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
John 13:34-35 (ESV) – A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
1 John 4:11(ESV) – Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
John 15:12 (ESV) – “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

Listening to the Holy Spirit (Rhema):

My light through you is placed. They around you too are placed. Your interaction with them is eternal. The labor of the day is your vehicle, a platform that My light might shine through you. In speech you pour forth blessing and curse – in action, the same. Choose to be aware, that you shall change their way, their path altered by My hand through yours. The work will be long forgotten, no vestige remembered, but your actions and speech incur eternal remembrance and curb the path of destruction afforded them without your gentle hand. See this more evident. Focus on this, as well the task, and great work will truly be of this day. Remember, you are placed and given charge that you may choose the greater work as you labor.
