Taking It to Work:
Many of us feel overly consumed, spread thin as we are pulled everyday to the many responsibilities that we find on our ever-growing list. We feel torn, as we want to take on less to be a little more balanced, but we want to be productive too, so saying, “No” to more is sometimes difficult. Add that to the fact that it seems that everything takes longer than we thought it should. Many of us feel too busy for one of the most important things in life . . . to reach out to others. The bible is replete with encouragement to put others first, to love them, to care for those around, to be the hands and feet of Jesus. But for the vast majority of us, the tasks of the day take precedence. In reality, you may never have thought of it this way, but it is an act of faith to stop during our crammed day, to make time for someone who we’ve not planned time for. Why is it an act of faith? Because when we do stop, when we really don’t have the time, we have to trust God that the day will go well just the same, and maybe even better, because we followed His lead to console that hurting colleague, to get to know that nervous new hire, or to lend a hand to another who also is struggling with over-commitment. In doing so, we will see that God will supply the time that we need for other things, but maybe not exactly on our schedule. Remember, the most important things in life are not things. Make time for others, and the Lord will bless the time that you have left. Stick to His priorities, and don’t let the fires of busyness consume you, as His Word works to balance you, today.
Ex 3:2 (ESV) – And the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed.
Gal 6:9-10 (ESV) – And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
Luke 10:33 (ESV) – But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion
Listening to the Holy Spirit (Rhema):
I have given you My power. You walk with My Spirit, able to do the greatest work of the Kingdom, but untapped to your influence. The workplace teems with those who need My touch through you. Reach out and My Spirit will empower. An inexhaustible light can be shed to the darkness of many lives. You fear weariness or lack of time to do so, but you underestimate My flame, for it feeds both them and you, and consumes not. It gives light, but strengthens as it gives. Do not quench the flame I have given you. It grows strong in giving, and fills the soul of he who receives, that it would be given again. Fear not the loss of time, for the fire of God does not consume, but gives life abundantly to all who know its light.
