What does it profit a man to gain all things and lose his soul? There is sweetness that is short-lived, and there is joy that feeds eternally. The things of the earth are like candy, sweet to the tongue, nourishing but little. He who eats what is true food, lives long and enjoys health for his days. The things of God are true food. The call of the coin melts away before it is swallowed. The desire is greater than the having, and the having a greater burden than what is desired. Find joy in the things of God. Chase after these things, and they will not disappoint, [and will be] even greater than the expectation, for I am a generous God, and give more than enough to those who seek first My Kingdom. I have given My Word that you would know the greater things, that your heart would long first for these, as My Spirit speaks against greed and the envy that decays. Work for the greater things [as hard] as you work for the vain, and abundant blessing will replace the emptiness of having very much that is little and heavy.

1 Tim 6:10 (NIV) –  For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Bottom Line: What are we working for? What are the goals that drive us? If it is to take care of those we love, it is a good thing, but if it is for stature and toys, prominence or position, the Word of God warns us against that kind of life. We may be “successful” and end up having it “all”, but our hearts will be empty, and our days a drudgery instead of a joy. Take a look around, and if you need to change some priorities, get rid of some toys, put God or people back in first place, do it! Everything will be better when the things of God are put first in your life.
