There is greater for all in company. As you meet with those in the workplace, you each pull, that together the greater will be accomplished. It is so also in My church, for each has My gifting, and it is to be used that others may profit. You are diligent at your work that all may prosper, not only for personal wage. You lift others in the tasks of the workplace. Why is it you seek My church differently? You come that you might receive only? Do you not give of your talent in the workplace, and then the wage is earned? My house gives, yes, even greater than the world gives, but it is in service that you receive the greater reward for your coming. Great work is accomplished through My Spirit through those who love Me as they serve those I love. In My house, small upon the earth, there is great need. I call that you would serve in My Name, that many would be blessed and bear what you have borne for them. Your hands are called to do more than pick up manna. They are called to serve Me, through My church, formed that they would do it well. I have redeemed that I might send you.

Ex 35:10 (ESV) – “Let every skillful craftsman among you come and make all that the Lord has commanded:

1Peter 4:10 (ESV) – As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace:

Pv 18:16 (ESV) – A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before the great.

Eph 2:10 (ESV) – For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Bottom Line: Pastors sometimes get offended when the church is referred to as an organization. I can understand why, for it so much more than the average company or business. It is the working Body of Christ on earth, so I get the objections. But serving in my career, leading both in the corporate world and in the church, I can assure you there are great similarities. Both have income and expenses. Both have facilities and people. Both have roles and responsibilities for those people. They have hierarchies, processes, and payroll, and have decision making processes that resemble many companies. Now the decision making should be occurring with a great deal more prayer, forgiveness and unity than maybe the average boardroom, but the similarities are there.

Now in these devotionals, what we typically do is discuss how to bring Godly virtues and faith into the workplace, to live out what we believe in everyday life, and to use that kind of life to make ourselves more effective for the Kingdom, and to bless those around us and the company for which we work. All this is extremely important to both of us, or neither of us would be here if it wasn’t. But today, I would like to talk about the opposite, bringing our work into our church.

We just discussed how the church is very much like a company, with many aspects of operations paralleling those of the secular world. We also know that the church is run by people. Hopefully very Godly people, but people just the same.

Do you know sometimes, many times, the church is hurting for people with your professional talents and/or experience? In fact many churches are being run by overloaded people that have never been trained for the positions they are trying to cover. Some of those people would love some of the tools and talent that you possess, even if it is only an hour a week, or temporary period just to get them set up to succeed.

Now I know when you do something all week, the last thing you might want to do is volunteer at the church to do more of the same, but you did say your life was His right?

Think about how blessed you are to have your professional skills, and all that brings to your life. It’s easy to write a check, and maybe hold the door on Sunday, but think how much more you might be able to bless your church.

Read today’s scriptures and pray about using those professional talents in the Kingdom, you will be amazed at the benefits package if you do, as His Word works to recruit you, today.
