Taking It to Work:
One of my favorite movies of all time is, “Frequency”. Very rarely do you come across a Hollywood movie that has a great storyline, action, suspense, good morals, clean language, and pretty decent acting. It even has Jim Caviezel in it, the same actor who played Jesus in Mel Gibson’s movie, “The Passion of the Christ”.
Anyway, it’s a great family movie, but for older kids who can follow it, as it also has one of my favorite fictional twists – time manipulation. Not time travel per se, but time manipulation. Someone who understands the future, giving direction and experience flowing backward into time, to make a difference in everyone’s future. Maybe that didn’t make sense, but if you watch the movie, it will.
As Christians we believe that God is the author of life, therefore, it follows that we believe God knows exactly how life works. He also knows the story of mankind beginning to end, and has given us His Word, not only to reveal that He does know the future (e.g. John Revelation of end times), but also to give us guidance to navigate though our future that He already understands. And just like in the movie, “Frequency”, if we can hear that voice, trust it, and follow what it says, everything changes. If that voice is the voice of our loving Father, through the gifts of the Holy Spirit and His Word, and we are wise enough to follow, everything changes for us as well.
Career decisions, job related stress, financial challenges and problem solving in the home and office, all have their best solutions stemming from the pages of our Bible. And better yet, as you search and pray for the wisdom you need, the very presence of our infinite, living God, speaks and personally guides you into a future only He knows.
No fictional time manipulation required, just His Holy Spirit and Word working in your life, today.
Acts 3:15 (ESV) – . . . the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.
Psalm 119:105-107 (ESV) – Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path…give me life, O Lord, according to your Word!
Isaiah 46:10 (ESV) – declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) – For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
Jer 33:3 (ESV) – Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.
Listening to the Holy Spirit (Rhema):
Today you receive wisdom, that today’s choices might be by My light, for I light the way before you with the wisdom of My Word. Seek Me first there, that you might know the heart of your Lord, for what servant would be praised if he did not know the desire of his master? If you are Mine, then your desire is of My own, for as light shines in the darkness, so the desire of the Father scatters the desire of self. Some hold to the darkness; the light of My Word is not heard, as the eyes of pleasure remove from the mind its holy call. Strive deeply into My Word. Ask that you might receive understanding, and by understanding, wisdom. Pray then for boldness, that you would follow My wisdom in home and occupation. For the wisdom of God is a safe haven, protecting He who walks gently in it, not in arrogance, but in obedience and reverence to He who brings His wisdom to men. Fear My hand upon unrighteousness – this begins the hunger of the righteous, seeking My heart that they would grow wise and in the pleasure of the Father. In bold wisdom do the blessed move, and their Fortress moves with them.
