Listening to the Holy Spirit:
In My creation I am visible. As witness your hands, movement function, as you contemplate the details of mere thought, as you exhale and draw your next, you experience My work in you. As you work, so does the creation that lies within you – My light, given as life to men. See with the eye; one creation beholds the next. Hear the thing you cannot touch, and smell what you cannot see. As you work today, give first thought to what must work, that you might work. Draw back to contemplate My work, that your faith would never be shaken, that the evidence of My sovereign hand would not leave you in times of doubt. My power in creation flows through and about you. Stop and see My work that you would believe you are placed for your own.
Job 12:7-10 (ESV) – But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In His hand is the life of every living thing and breath of all mankind.
Psalm 19:1 (ESV) – The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Psalm 104:24-25 (ESV) – O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. Here is the sea, great and wide, which teems with creatures innumerable, living things both small and great.
Taking It to Work:
Stop and look at the miracle of just the function of your hand. Open and close it. Pick up something delicate, and then watch it move at your mere thought. Stop and contemplate how difficult it would be for man to come up with just the hand.
Before you start your work today, take a moment and reflect on His work of creation, especially the part of creation that is you. The capacity we have “to do things” is unbelievable. This is His work in us, and He deserves glory and thanks for putting so much incredible function, including the wonder of life itself, into us.
Let His work be a reminder that we are wonderfully designed and were created to accomplish great purposes in the life He has granted us. Let the marvel of it all keep your faith strong as the creative power of His Word works wonders through you, today.
