There is no loss for the people of God, for they who truly follow My way are greeted in My full Kingdom with blessing untold. All earthly treasure fades, even that of life itself, but not of the children of the Kingdom. To them will be granted eternal life and eternal dwelling. Beyond the creation now seen will be the expanse of the new creation, without blemish, sin or decay. The cumulative wealth of mankind will be as rubble, and his mastery over the innocent will be no more. Those who destroy will be themselves destroyed, and those who bless will be exalted to rule. The last shall be first, and will serve He who is First and Last, and forever will be. Dwell not on the golden calf and the fear of loss of comfort and position. These things are only a shadow of true riches and glory in My Kingdom. Remember you are but a sojourner. For a short time you are tested, that you would grow and become. Then in an instant of heaven, true life begins. Look not at the short years before you, but that of the eternal. Do not trade pearls for the swirl of the marble, nor clear breath for passion’s perfume, for both are deceiving to what I truly offer. I go to prepare and am preparing. Be wise that you would not be lost in the wait, chasing shadows.
Matthew 6:19-21 (ESV) – “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 13:34 (ESV) – “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.”
Matthew 6:24 (ESV) – “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
Bottom Line: We work to provide, and for those we love, we want to provide the best. We enjoy the comfort and security money can bring. For most of us, we begin our career and our own prosperity is on the top of life’s list. It seems right, and most of the world supports and agrees with that stance, but not God. He reminds us today that we are not here to acquire material possessions and security. If we are not careful, we can trade the “great” He has to offer, the great that we were created for, for the “good stuff” of the world. It is an immense challenge to the believer, likely the greatest temptation we will ever face – God’s way or our way. It is clear in the Bible that possessions are not the enemy; they’re not bad. Money is not evil either; it allows those who have it to bless many who struggle, BUT the bible states that the love of money is the root of all evil. To wrap your entire life around acquiring more and more of it is a deadly trap for all. So, we are all working for a living, or we are watching the nest-egg that working for a living has brought us . . . but be careful. Our money is not our savior, not our security, not our self-worth. In God alone we will find these things. Make sure the shadow you are chasing is His.
