Listening to the Holy Spirit:

The favor of your God is a strong tower, giving elevated sight of your enemies, protection from their weapons, and a place of rest when weary. He who opposes Me has no shelter, only small strength, bare to elements which I control. He will not prevail; though I allow him to live and to attack, he will fade into the dust of time. My children, adopted by the blood of promise, who follow My way and heed My voice, to these is the victory. The small deed will not be forgotten, and the faith that fuels their steps will not lead them lost, although they do not know the way. Their strength is spent, as it too is small, but it is My favor that prevails beyond. Those who oppose will be broken, as My hand times their demise. But the Father’s anointed, by the blood of the Lamb, will find favor in My sight, and although the attack be waged, My strength will stand where they cannot. Am I not Lord? I protect with My favor. Why do you fear?

Ps 90:17 (ESV) – Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!

Ps 5:12 (ESV) – For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield.

Luke 2:52 (ESV) – And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.

Daniel 1:9 (ESV) – And God gave Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the chief of the eunuchs…

Taking It to Work:

Have you ever experienced God’s favor in the workplace? Have you ever flowed God’s favor in the workplace?

When I was sixteen, I got my first real job as a helper at a small company called Ladd’s Air-Conditioning. I was living with my grandparents at the time after a pretty rough childhood in a very broken home.  Working at Ladd’s was my new boss, Sonny T as he called himself. He was a rough and tumble Christian well placed in the construction industry. Sonny had three daughters, and had always wanted a son. He was a boxer and brawler in his younger years, and mellowing only slightly in his mid-forties, he took a real liking to a young man who had no real father.

I worked with Sonny six days a week that first summer, and in his eyes, there was nothing I could do wrong. He bragged on me every chance he got. He taught me. Made me laugh. He’d take me on every job he could. He’d buy me five or six McDonald’s cheeseburgers when he went out for only one. He’d take me grouper fishing, on trips to see his mom, and to this day, most of my jokes (the good ones) I got from Sonny T. He was there when I bowed my head to become a Christ follower, and many years later, he even talked me into marrying my wife, when I thought I would never measure up to being a good husband or father.

So was it Sonny’s favor or God’s favor? Yes. One in the same. Through Sonny T, Monday through Saturday, for many years, God’s favor on me flowed. The difference in my life is immeasurable, and Sonny’s willingness to shower God’s favor on a somewhat broken teen, I can tell you, that impact is now eternal.

It happened in the workplace. It can happen in yours, as His Word and favor work through you, today.
