Taking It to Work:
When I was sixteen, the Lord arranged that my first full-time job was one with a small air-conditioning company where my boss and his wife were practicing Christians. In retrospect, I’d say she practiced it a lot better than he did, but for a young man as lost as I was, that first job was my first introduction to a group of people who claimed that they were following Jesus. It was their daughter who cracked open that first bible, to show me that I was going the wrong way and God wanted better for me.
It was an invitation from them to attend their church, where the Lord called my name, and started me on the unbelievable journey I am still on today. It was at work, through very imperfect Christians, and it was through them that His hand pulled me, “from the mud and the mire, and set my feet on solid rock.” (See Psalms 40:1-2)
I wonder how much courage they had to muster to talk to me, or how nervous their daughter was in showing me the truth. But what a difference they made for all eternity – for me, and now my entire family!
The world and workplace, your workplace, is full of people who need the hope of the Gospel message. If your faith is strong, and your spirit gentle, you can be a wonderful influence in their lives for Him. Sunday is coming! Pray that you might have faith to make a church invitation, or an invitation to join your family for dinner. It could begin a relationship and friendship that could be the beginning of a great blessing for them, and generations to come. Your workplace is more than your workplace. Be courageous. Be faithful. Be inviting, and let His Word work through you, today.
2 Tim 3:16 (ESV) – All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
Psalm 106:30-31 (ESV) – Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was stayed. And that was counted to him as righteousness from generation to generation forever.
Joshua 1:9 (ESV) – Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
1Cor 16:13 (ESV) – Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.
Listening to the Holy Spirit (Rhema):
My followers are strong when they are moved in faith, but weak when that faith takes wane. I call you to great faith, more than what is needed for salvation, but that which is needed to lead. You have place of influence. Those about you wander in the darkness without understanding of the light. In strong faith you will bring it to them, in weakness of faith – timidity. Call upon Me for faith to stand, to intervene in the darkness on behalf of those lost. They will listen to he who is strong but gentle, bringing hope not in caliber, but in comfort to their needs, interrupting suffering with courage to give truth, that their suffering would be cut short, and the children of their children will eat of that same blessing. Pray for faith that you might be strong to extend hope. I will show you. Look, that you stand up, and lead them to the hope in Me.
