Many years of study, that your occupation would be fruitful. Both the mind and the occupation, gifts first from your Father. Seek the heart of your God with the same yearning and diligence, that you would know My wisdom, and heart for My redeemed. Much of learning is forgotten. Many more the years of toil, only to serve the years of toil. Your fruitfulness is not of your occupation, but of the outpouring of what the Father has already given. Seek My Word, that you would know more deeply My ways. Your heart will be drawn, and the generosity of God will flow more readily in your days on earth. Legacy is not of the acquired, but of the distributed. I give first, that you would also give. Forgiveness, peace, joy, kindness, compassion . . . these are the eternal currency of the generous. Wealth of the world is a poor substitute, and toil without love-a robber. Seek My Word, and hear My voice. You are my vessel full, now pour.
Gal 5:22-23 (ESV) – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Bottom Line: We work to receive. We study our work to get better at our work, that we would then receive more for our time at work. The Holy Spirit reminds us that we need to be in God’s Word to really know His heart, and remember that it is not about receiving, rather, it is about giving – not only time, treasure and talent, but also the fruit of the Spirit which He has already given to us. Our life should be an outpouring of all that He pours into us. At work today, pour out the blessing you have onto others. Ask the Holy Spirit how and when, and others will see His heart through yours.
