August 31st – Working Together

Listening to the Holy Spirit:

He who sits upon the throne can do all things. Faith in the power of your God is a great weapon and ally. Those who do not know this strength, do not call on it. Your work is given that you would excel for others, and for the path laid out before you. Your strength and foresight are limitations, but they are not Mine. Call in your faith for help with the weight of your work. Give prayer to the many things that weigh and disappoint. There should be no separation of your strength and My own. Even the small detail of your daily task I give My eye to, and your calling to the details I do hear, for I know My children and their tasks, and I wait for the call that seldom comes. Your day of work is not to be in isolation. My hand is to be on all that you put your hand on. Call and hear. There should be no separation, that we shall walk together in your work.

1 Chron 16:11 – Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!

Jeremiah 32:17 (ESV) – ‘Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.

Proverbs 16:3 (ESV) – Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.

Taking It to Work:

Our God is capable of all things. When we put faith in His capabilities, and faith in His willingness to use those capabilities on our behalf, we have the Biblical definition of a faith that pleases God, and a faith that can move mountains.

Most of our Christian walk is spent developing and implementing that kind of faith in our lives. Why? Because we know inside, that a life living out that kind of faith would be beyond incredible, and our walk with God would be as close as it could be.

Is our work a place to exercise that walk with God? For many in this culture, the answer would be a resounding “No”. “You practice faith at church, but when you’re in the ‘real world’, you leave that stuff at home.” Sentiments like that are getting more and more common.

God’s Word says the opposite. So much so, that we are called to commit all our work to the Lord, and ask for His help in everything we do. Going it alone, that is what our enemy wants. He wants us to see our own strength and foresight as more than enough to see us through. God wants us to see our strength and foresight so limited, and so needy, that we pray for His strength and foresight to see us through. He wants our “real life” and our “faith life” to be so intertwined that Monday’s prayers are as real as Sunday’s, and His continual presence in our lives is just as strong.

Even though we live in an increasingly unbelieving world, there should be no separation between our work-life, church-life, home-life, and our walk with our omnipresent God. We should be inviting Him into everything we do, even in the workplace, even in the things we don’t think He would want to be involved in. He wants us to walk with him continually, and realize His presence and strength are available all day long, seven days a week. Walk and work with Him, as His Word works in you, today.
