The delight of the deceived is prosperity. The delight of My people is in obedience to My Word. Seeking deeply their call, reaching for that which is holy, joy wells up as a spring in the fulfillment of My Law. Their focus is of the Kingdom. Only briefly distracted to the necessary, their heart longs for the delight of the Lord and the great works accomplished through their faithful hands. A redeemed heart rises daily, as the orchestra within, bringing thankfulness unbridled to He who sits upon the throne. Their delight is in the Lord, and with this, truly they prosper fully, and then delight again in the generosity it affords. Blessed is he who delights in My ways; his foundation is secure. He fears no drought as the unbeliever. He has no greed for more, as his life is a delight. Woe to he whose god is wealth, for it answers no prayers.
Psalm 1:2-3 (ESV) – but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
Bottom Line: Many of us may live in the most prosperous place on the face of the earth, among people who are the most prosperous on earth. We go to school with them, work beside them, and if we are not careful, we will become like them – dedicating our lives to attaining wealth. It is the wide road. The prosperity of God is much more than the prosperity of the world, and the way we obtain it is by a much different and narrower way. It may have nothing to do with material prosperity. We will prosper when we choose to travel His way. When our heart is right, prosperity is not the main focus of our thoughts and efforts – that would be an idol.
