Taking It to Work:
It’s hard to believe that when we give our lives to God, we become so much more than who we were. We still look the same, and feel almost the same, but our faith says something different. We become a new person, empowered by the God who created us, who now resides in us through the Holy Spirit. As CHRISTians we take on His Name and now represent to the world what that all means.
Yet, most of us go to our jobs each day feeling normal and not very special. We barely think about the light of Christ that we now carry, and that we have been placed purposely in our place of work to shine that light.
Think about those you see at work, so many in this world live each day dealing with secret hardships, struggles, disappointments and problems. We all do, because the Bible says that in this life we will have trouble. But the good news is, these problems and struggles are often areas where many become open to deeper conversations, and maybe through some selfless service, helping them out in their need, real friendships can form, giving more opportunity for His light to shine through you; sometimes into some pretty heavy and dark places in their lives.
Pray that your spiritual vision and discernment is sharp today. Keep your eyes open to see who the Lord might put in your path to shine His light and lighten someone’s burden. Maybe you can lend a listening ear, speak an encouraging word, or simply give a smile to bring them some joy. Maybe you can be the person who offers them help when everyone else is passing them by.
Our parents always said we should turn the lights off before we leave the house. The scripture says we are light bearers of our Almighty God, so don’t forget to turn your light on before you leave your house, as His Word works through you, today.
Col 3:10 (ESV) – And have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
Matt 5:14-16 (ESV) – You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
2Cor 4:6 (ESV) – For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Listening to the Holy Spirit (Rhema):
As you serve in your labor, it is My Name you carry, for it is I who created you, and I who has given you breath. It is I who has saved and brought you to this place. I have given you strength and good fortune. I made you rich in My faith and Spirit, and now also you carry My name, and bear likeness to My image. So lift first your head to the Father, then lift others who bear My Name in their struggles, and then to the unbelievers show the Light of life, that their struggle might be lessened and dead bones revived. You are My ambassador into darkness. Be courageous in faith. Cower not under fear, for fear must bow to faith, as all the earth will bend its knee to the Father of Light, and to the Son whom He has sent. You have such power given to you – healing light for those in the ill of darkness. I send you that you would do great work in My Name.
