Listening to the Holy Spirit:

A generation passes as a day. Light of the morning as birth, and twilight brings the end of years. A greater light is now yours, that you would walk with Me in the work of My Father. You have been lifted from darkness into My Light, drawn by the Father. Hear My Spirit, that your day would be fruitful. As I have been sent, so I send you. A life without the work of heaven is like a day lost to slumber, or a day lost to mindless tasks. Know the years of your breath are numbered, and you are called to greater than the heathen, or to those who deny Me. Awaken from your slumber My called and redeemed, that you would not waste the day.

John 9:4 (ESV) –  We must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.

Matt 5:15 (ESV) – Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.

Matt 25:23 (ESV) – His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’

Taking It to Work:

What is the work of your life? If you were to be asked by a colleague, you may say I’m an engineer, or a business owner, or a custodian or teacher, but if Jesus were to ask you the same question, “What is the work of your life?”, How would you respond? My guess is that your answer would be modified, because you and I both know that when Jesus is asking, He is asking about work “that counts”. The stuff that matters for eternity.

That’s what FCCI is all about. Teaching folks to get His work done, while we get our work done. So many think they can’t really serve the Lord at work. They feel like they have to wait until they retire, or maybe quit and take full-time church or ministry position, but the truth is, you are in ministry right where you are!

Everyday, if you’re intentional about it, you bring the light of Christ into your workplace. You may not preach to your coworkers (and you likey shouldn’t), or lead a lunchtime Bible study, but your presence there, as a follower of Christ, encouraging, helping, making friends, serving, leading with Godly values, honoring employees, working hard and smiling when everyone else is griping: that’s a ministry! Your ministry in the workplace; a daily light for Christ in the working world.

But, you have to think that way, and be purposeful in shining that light. If you are, at the end of your day, or at the end of your career, which comes faster than you think, you can tell Him. “I did your work Lord.”, and He will reply, “Well done, good and faithful servant”

Don’t miss God’s work by being buried in your own. Shine His light, as His Word works though you, today.
